Humans are wired for connection. Neuroscience shows that feeling socially connected boosts the production of oxytocin (the “bonding hormone”) and reduces stress hormones like cortisol.
If you are feeling lonely right now, sharing your thoughts and experiences helps you feel seen, heard, and understood. Engaging with others creates a sense of connection and reminds you that you’re not alone. Do it 3+ times this week, and you are almost guaranteed to begin to feel a little less alone, and may even start to develop new friendships.
Take a Moment to Reflect:
Ask yourself: What am I feeling right now? What would I like support or encouragement with?
- This could be as simple as sharing a thought, a question, or a recent experience.
Write a Short Post and post it HERE.
- Keep it simple and authentic. Example:
- “Feeling a bit lonely today and wanted to reach out. How do you all stay connected on tough days?”
- “Hi everyone, just checking in—what’s one thing that brought you joy this week?”
Engage with Responses:
- When others reply, take the time to read their comments. Respond to their messages with gratitude or additional thoughts.
Cheer on Others:
- Browse other posts in the community and leave a supportive comment or a “like.” This helps deepen your sense of connection and reminds you of the shared experiences within the group.
Reminder: Your voice matters, and sharing in the community can be a powerful way to build connections. Start small, and over time, you’ll find yourself feeling more supported and connected. 💛
