A Guided Practice for Finding Focus When You Feel Scattered

Have you ever had one of those days when you're busy all day, but somehow, by the end of it, you feel like you haven't actually gotten much done?

You sit down to answer an email, remember something else you need to do, open another tab, check your phone, go back to the email, and then realize you've forgotten what you were going to say.

But your attention has been pulled in so many directions that everything seems to take longer than it should.

Here's something you might not realize: Focus is a skill you can practice.

And just like other skills, the more opportunities you give yourself to practice, the more familiar it can become.

In this 14-minute guided practice, we'll use evidence-based techniques drawn from approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT, to help you strengthen your ability to direct your attention.

Just follow along, give yourself permission to practice, and remember that there's no perfect way to do this.

Let's begin.
